The Paleo(s®) Trend
Paleo lifestyle is not a trend - it's a realization!
Over millions of years humans have evolved into what we are today. Our genes will be essentially the same many thousands of years from now as those of our prehistoric ancestors. At least 99% of our genetic inheritance is believed to be consistent with that of Homo erectus. Biologically and genetically we are still are Stone Age people! You may already be familiar with the “paleo lifestyle” which is a way of living based on this theory.
According to this paradigm, we should stick to food for which we are genetically optimized (meat, fish, fruit, vegetables, nuts, honey, etc.) and avoid those that have been developed in the last 10,000 years (milk, grain, bread, etc.). Of course, our biological "engine" runs evenly with modern food, but less effectively and with considerable side effects. Even today, this is believed to be the reason why a significant proportion of the world population does not tolerate cow's milk.
The PaleoBarferoots® are an outgrowth of this philosophy. Our feet are the result of evolution, too. The design of our feet compresses many bones, ligaments, cartilage, and tendons together in a very small space. In addition, many major body nerves end in the soles of our feet, waiting to receiving stimuli such as heat, cold, moisture, etc., and to relay this information back into the body. The biomechanics and sensory network of our feet is designed to cushion and balance, reacting in response to different natural surfaces, soils and conditions. Traditional shoes and flat, hard surfaces interfere with this experiene.
Would you want to wear gloves all day long?
Under natural (barefoot) conditions your feet receive important information such as warning signals, changes in temperature, and other stimuli from the environmental. A multitude of body nerves end in our feet and continuously transmit that stimuli back to the body. The less contact between our feet and the ground, the more indistinct and incomplete theses signals are. This is why many recognized health practicioners begin their work with an examination of the feet.
If we translate the Paleo diet to the principles of biomechanics, completely bare feet would be the result. It would be much safer, of course, to cover these bare feet with a pair of PaleoBarferoots®. Right now they are the only shoe to offer the possibility of significantly broadening the barefoot radius and to safely and comfortably walk over completely unknown natural surfaces on land and water, without denying stimulation to the soles of your feet.
